First, I'll admit that my background is with classical guitar, not electric bass, but I purchased this learn the instrument. The guitar is truly impressive for the price point. Very nice finish. Solid feel. Reasonably good electronics. The body is basswood making the guitar much lighter than higher end instruments, but I don't have any problems with neck droop. The bolt-on neck itself is straight and the frets are smooth. The finish on the guitar is glossy, but the finish on the back of the neck is satin to allow faster left hand movement. The tuners are suprisingly smooth for a low-cost instrument and allow fine adjustments. It came with a lightweight gig bag, nylon strap, amp cable and allen wrenches. You'll need a couple of Philips screwdrivers and a small wrench too if you want to change any settings or tighten potentiometers. The gig bag is just thin nylon, but it's good enough to transport the guitar short distances. I didn't like the nylon strap, so I upgraded to a cotton one I found on Amazon. The guitar I received needed a little more neck bow, which I was able to modify using the included wrench. You'll need a jewelers Philips screwdriver to remove the truss rod cover. The action was also extremely high at 3.5mm at the 12th fret. I lowered it to 2.0mm to be closer to an accoustic guitar, but experienced bass players might want it higher. Lowering the action and setting intonation was fairly easy on the bridge. Again, you'll need a Philips screwdriver to change intonation. If you don't know what any of this means, take it to a guitar shop for adjustment. The sound is very good for a low cost instrument. My guitar teacher compared it to his high end bass, and after a few tweaks of the pots, and was also impressed with the sound and build quality. He was also happy with the action and string response. The seller, Glarry Music, has been extremely responsive. The shipping company misplaced the first guitar. Glarry apologized and immediately sent me a replacement. They will send me a return label for the first guitar for when, and if, it appears. My only concern with this purchase is the packaging. The cheap cardboard box and styrofoam enclosure was nearly split in two when it arrived. Fortunately, the guitar was just fine. This guitar won't immediately make you sound like Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke or Flea, but I think you'll be impressed. Go to Glarry Music's website and watch the pros play this guitar and you'll definitely be sold. I'll update this review in the future if I run into problems, but at first glance I think my $125 was extremely well spent.NOTE: I did not receive any compensation or free products for this review. I paid the full $125 list price on Amazon. I despise the paid reviews as they are always positive and I wish Amazon would ban them.I do instrument setups and minor repairs and I had watched several review videos before I bought this one. It could use some upgraded pickups and tuners, but out of the box it played really well and sounds good enough for my home recording. After a setup, neck (truss rod) adjustment and cleaning off the manufacturing gunk all new guitars have, there were only a couple of fret ends that had sprouted. It plays very well, is light weight, and holds it's tuning like an instrument many times it's cost. I have it on my guitar 5 rack, and it's been out in the open for several months since I bought it. It holds its tuning with only one string (1st, G) going flat after weeks of sitting, but less than a semitone. If you are looking for an inexpensive bass to learn on, or even do some limited gigging, I suggest you try one out. If it breaks, lol easy replacement cost. I would also recommend investing in a bone or Tusq nut for it, but the plastic one is doing okay still. I'm impressed at the quality you can get in a budget guitar.I've had this bass for over 3 months. When it came, I needed to set it up. I did not know how to do that but learned on youtube. I have been having a blast with this bass but have not played any other to compare it to. For me it is a great beginner's bass.Overall, the value you get from this bass is AMAZING! The body note is well tuned for blues bass and works amazingly well with DR Blues strings. It has a rich, full sound, a beautiful grain, and clean notes on every fret. That said, the frets aren't very well finished. It would be worthwhile to run over the edges with a fine file to bring them flush with the neck.P.s. the fretboard is dry, put a couple drops of clove oil on a rag and wipe it a couple times, making sure to wipe away any excess oil so it doesn't get on the strings. The bass arrived earlier than expected and in good shape. The red finish is beautiful with only one very small swirl mark - it's more perfect than I am. Frets are smooth and the nut is nearly perfect. Once tuned, the relief was spot on. The only thing I plan to do is adjust the pickup height up a bit to see if I can arrive at a signal strength similar to my Fender Jazz bass. Oh yeah, probably new strings but the ones that came with it aren't all that bad. She's cheap and beautiful and I glad she's mine.If you're thinking about buying this as your first bass: consider buying something slightly more expensive. If you're thinking of picking this up and you know how to do basic guitar work, it's perfect. When I received this bass, the frets were terribly out of level. Depending on your level of experience, this may or may not be a big issue. If you are considering picking this up as your first bass, I'm assuming that you don't have the tools needed to rework the frets, and I really wouldn't recommend buying and learning how to use those for a while. However, I own the tools, and after about an hour of work the bass is playing perfectly.I'm also hesitant to fault Glarry too much for this issue. Most reviews say that the fretwork is decent, and this bass shipped across the country in the middle of summer. Any guitar could require some fret rework after going through those conditions. I'd highly recommend buying a bass from a local shop if you can. Most shops will ensure that the frets are playable before they sell it to you.Apart from the fretwork, the rest of the bass is great. The finish on it is beautiful, apart from some minor blemishes that aren't really a big deal. My only real critique is that the fretboard isn't real rosewood. It's either some kind of artificial wood or a species that I'm not very familiar with. I was never expecting real rosewood on such a cheap bass, and what's on there works just fine. I'm just disappointed that Glarry would falsely advertise something like this.
